Getting Started - This is Where I'm At

This is me at 196.5 lbs. I want a fit body, not slim or bulky, just physically fit.

A Simple Explaination - Why?

Okay, so everyone and their dog wants to be in shape and have a perfect body. Year after bloody year so many people set goals and make resolutions to exercise. Gym memberships are started, contests begun, and healthy diets are vowed too. I am almost like everyone else in this regard. I set goals and have great ideas of fitness and health in my head. My only difference thus far is that I don't even make it a few months into the new year. Usually only a few exercises. And that is terrible.

I used to be fit and in shape, in High School, benching 225 with my 150 lb body. I was not massive, but because of my martial arts routine, I was in shape and very powerful for my size. Well, High School is now 6 years behind me. I have served a 2 year mission for the LDS church, I am married, and work in a Hydraulic Warehouse. I have been successful in many regards and I have failed, or at least not yet reached success, in many other aspects of my life. During the course of the last 6 years I have gained 50 lbs, grown taller and wider, and gained many bad nutrition and health habits. This is what I want to change.

With so many programs and routines out there, I have decided to work with P90X and mix in a little of my own dieting techniques. I am not a master, by any means, of the human body or of fitness, but I do have a powerful will. I have opted out of the expensive gym membership that I'll use twice and never go back to. I am severely limited as to a budget, but I do have some exercise equipment that I can use in my apartment. I won't have to leave home to workout unless I do running or ride my bike, etc.

I will post a before picture with specific goals and pictures of my equipment soon. Why am I posting this all to a blog? Basically, its accountability. I don't expect anyone to read this, but I will record here as a journal and as a way to keep myself interested. Please feel free to comment and make suggestions if you do read this. Thank you.
